Shaun Bonett
Position: Director and Chief Executive Officer
Bio: Shaun Bonett attended the University of Adelaide where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Major in Jurisprudence), Bachelor of Law and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Shaun commenced his employment in the legal profession in the early 1990’s at Thomson Simmons Lawyers before joining Phillips Fox in 1996. During this time he held corporate advisory roles in the commercial, property and taxation sectors.
Shaun founded the Precision Group in 1994. Since then Shaun’s foresight has enabled Precision to become involved in projects where larger public investors have feared to tread. In 1999 Shaun purchased the Adelaide Central Plaza development project (the 1st David Jones anchored CBD shopping centre) from David Jones, at a time when David Jones’ share price was 98 cents and no one wished to take the project on. Another example is the retail project Precision is involved in at the rail-interchange in Chatswood, Sydney, which will be the country’s first shopping centre which integrates 3 major tenants and 70 retail stores over four levels, with a railway and bus interchange.
Shaun more recently has diversified Precision’s interests into property lending with the establishment of Lenders Direct, a financier that is focussed on providing investors and developers with first mortgage, mezzanine and bridging finance for property projects. There has also been a string of private equity involvements, primarily in the IT and Biotech sectors that have proved to be very successful.
Geoffrey Tauber
Position: Director and Executive Chairman
Bio: Geoffrey Tauber holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Psychology) from Melbourne University and a Bachelor of Social Work from Latrobe University.
Through Geoffrey’s careful direction, his family’s business, Playcorp, became the largest wholesale toy company in Australia before being sold to the Coles Group at which time Geoffrey became the investment manager for his family’s private group of companies.
In 2002, having assisted the Precision Group in various financing structures for its projects over previous years, Geoffrey Tauber was appointed Executive Chairman. With extremely strong business credentials accrued over many years, Geoffrey works alongside CEO Shaun Bonett in the development of the strategic direction for the Precision Group.
Geoffrey has more than 20 years expertise in property finance and direct involvement in mezzanine funding negotiations and is largely responsible for sourcing and securing appropriate finance transactions through the company’s Lenders Direct business.
Steve Bonett
Position: Non-Executive Director
Bio: Steve Bonett brings considerable legal, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and finance experience to the Board.
Having practiced as a partner of Finlaysons Lawyers and at Allen Allen & Hemsley for over 10 years in Corporate, he has led several major transactions in Australia and overseas.
Steve has also been a director of Terramin Australia Limited (and its local and overseas subsidiaries), an ASX listed company, since 2004 and chairs its Mergers & Acquisitions Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee and is a member of its Audit Committee. He has also served on the Boards of not for profit organisations, including most recently The Queen Elizabeth Research Foundation Inc.
Steve holds degrees in Commerce (Hons) and Law (Hons) and is an active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association.
